David Horsey is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist and columnist. In January 2012, he joined the Los Angeles Times political team, and will re-craft its "Top of the Ticket" blog with his distinct combination of cartoons and written commentary.

David's work has appeared in hundreds of media outlets, including the New York Times, the Washington Post and Newsweek. David worked much of his career at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (a Hearst Newspaper) and as a contributing commentator at MSNBC.com.

David has covered political party conventions; presidential primaries; Summer and Winter Olympics; the Super Bowl; and on assignments in Europe, Japan and Mexico and to Washington, D.C., where he did two extended stints in the Hearst Newspapers Washington bureau.

Horsey is also a keynote speaker for a broad range of groups throughout the United States, including the Pacific Council on International Policy in Los Angeles, the Heartland Bankers Association in Colorado Springs, the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the Wyoming Press Association in Casper, the American Society of Human Genetics in Salt Lake City and ‘Iolani School in Honolulu.

Close to home in Washington State, he has presented to lawyers, nurses, doctors, educators, state workers, university audiences, Chamber of Commerce gatherings, trade and economic development conferences, city and county executives and many, many more.

His entertaining, witty presentations are built around cartoons that touch on common American themes and provide another layer of audience engagement.

Besides winning two Pulitzers for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 1999 and 2003, Horsey has received the National Press Foundation's Berryman Award for Cartoonist of the Year and many other honors, including first place in the Best of the West Journalism Competition for his columns about the 2008 presidential election.

After graduating from the University of Washington, Horsey entered journalism as a political reporter. His multi-faceted career has taken him to national political party conventions, presidential primaries, the Olympic Games, the Super Bowl, assignments in Europe, Japan and Mexico and two extended stints working at the Hearst Newspapers Washington Bureau.

As a Rotary Foundation Scholar, Horsey earned an MA in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury (U.K.). He also holds an honorary doctorate from Seattle University.

Horsey has published seven books of cartoons, including his two most recent, Draw Quick, Shoot Straight and From Hanging Chad to Baghdad.
